The green color allows to mark visible points on hairy areas + it does not contain iron oxide which avoids artifacts in MRI.
Green is also the only color that is not naturally present in the body. This limits the risk of error or confusion with a vein (blue-gray), a wound or a pimple (red) and a mole or a scab (dark brown or black).
